MMDU Law Department organizes International Conference

Another milestone for one of the leading private universities of North India, MMDU, which organizes a coveted international conference on “Vidhi Awalokan” or “Criminal Justice System in India: Emerging Trends”. The conference was organized by the Law department and this sensitive as well as highly relevant topic was chosen by the faculty in wake of increasing public demand for changes in criminal justice system.

Hon’ble Sh. Jagdeep Singh, CBI Special Court, Panchkula Judge, Former Vice Chancellor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib University, Prof. (Dr.) S. S Khera, Mr. Saurabh Chaudhary and Sh. Rajesh Singla, leading industrialist from Dehradun were the guests of the honour. It is worth mentioning that Jagdeep Singh Ji joined the Haryana judicial services in 2012 and is known as highly competent, tough and upright judge with a no-nonsense attitude in the legal fraternity.

Hon’ble Chancellor Sh. Tarsem Garg, Dr. Vishal Garg and Er. Sanjeev Garg welcomed the Chief Guests and Prof. (Dr.) Victor Gambhir felicitating the guests with a sapling.

Dr.Bindu Jindal, Head & Dean of Department of Law gave the welcome address and talked about the significance of criminal justice system and its importance in rendering public justice, punishing the criminal and ensuring a free and fair trial. Dr. Reetika Bansal, Convener of the Conference and Dr. Ashok Garg, Co-Convener steered the conference in a wonderful manner. The conference was attended by more than 200 participants from all over India who not just listened to the views of the speakers but also raised questions relating to the responsibilities of the judiciary and what kind of amendments are needed in Indian criminal law to make it more effective and justice-oriented.
